I wasn’t raised in a Christian family, but came unexpectedly to an experience of Jesus as a freshman at college in the UK. Music has helped me connect with the Lord. The Psalms sung in various formats often move me towards him: “To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul” (Psalm 25:1). I enjoy YouTube worship in languages I don’t understand like Aramaic, Syriac, or Persian. Tea, cricket, Brit Box, and marmite are pleasures I enjoy as part of my British heritage. As my wife, Kim, and I lived in China and Taiwan for several years, we both appreciate the rich heritage and cultures of Asia. Kim is a licensed therapist and spiritual director. I’m interested in how the spiritual and theological resources of the Church of the East might inform the global church today. And more broadly, I’m eager to connect and learn from Christians from non-western countries. Kim and I raised our four daughters (all adults now) with an appreciation for international friendships. I enjoy walking, jogging, polyphonic choral music, and occasionally some tennis. I’m happy to connect with those who have questions about Christianity, or who experience some block in their faith, or who are disenchanted with faith, or who may enjoy kicking back with a cuppa or bubble tea, curry or crumpets, hummus or Beijing kaoya.
